Complete Your New Year's Resolution this Year
New Year’s resolutions are great, even if rarely followed. According to a recent University of Scranton Study 45% of Americans make New Year’s resolutions, yet a measly 8% actually achieve these resolutions. Lack of planning is cited as the primary cause of failure. So why not plan on 5 simple resolutions that you can bang out in less than a day. So when your friends ask you if you have any New Year’s resolutions you can answer yes, and brag that they are already done.

Sometimes the People Need to be Saved from Themselves!
Have you had a customer leave your shop or have you have left a service call and the first thought to your mind is ID10T(idiot) or PEBCAK (problem exists between the chair and the keyboard)? Junkware Ruins PC Performance
What makes a decently configured PC run poorly right out of the box? Good ole fashioned bloat ware is all that is needed to take a PC to its knees. This has been a problem that has plagued the majority of tier 1 PC vendors for many years. This issue is still going strong and was recently reported on in this recent zdnet article.

Tablets Make Custom Built PC Users Happier
In my recent article Post PC Era? Custom Built PC Still Needed I argued against the idea that we are living in a post PC era, and that in fact custom built PCs are needed now more than ever. The opposite side of the coin for rampant tablet adoption is that tablets are actually improving how consumers view their PCs. A recent article at pcworld sites a study by the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ASCI) that found that PC “satisfaction is up 2.6 percent, to a record-high score of 80”. The assumption is that the people that were unhappy with their PCs have migrated to the tablet space and are not contributing negative ratings to the study.

Your Toolkit is Indispensible
This is an open invitation for you to share with me, and the other resellers who read this blog, what tools you have in your tool kit. This can of course mean actual physical tools from the mundane #2 Phillips screw driver to a high end Fluke meter. What I am most interested in though is what software tips, tricks or tools do you use that really help you get your work done. Perhaps these are even virtual tools that you rely on such as cloud based services.

Stuck on What to Sell in your Custom Built PC Solution?
In the course of normal day to day PC sales it can be easy to get lost selling the "standard" rectangular mini tower PCs and 15.4” black clamshell notebooks. What choices can you offer to your customers?

Post PC ERA? Custom Built PC Workstations Will Survive!
Lately there has been a lot of media attention that we are in or entering a Post PC era. A good portion of this is hyperbole to grab attention and generate excitement about the explosion of tablet computing. The growth of tablet usage has been amazing for sure but for actual office work and content creation general purpose computers still reign supreme.

Desktop PCs Don't Make Good Servers
Do you have customers insisting on cutting corners to get you to install a desktop system as a server in their office?
